Statue of Liberty
Visiting the famous Statue of Liberty was one of our favorite parts of the trip. We enjoyed everything from, the boat ride, Liberty Island, the Manhattan skyline view, and of course the actual statue. Booking your tickets in advance is key! This way you only have to wait in line to get on the boat, opposed to also waiting in a huge line to purchase tickets. We decided to purchase the pedestal tickets, which means we can climb up to the pedestal of the statue...the brown part. If you want to purchase crown tickets, make sure you book way in advance because they sell out quickly. The crown tickets allow you to climb up what seems like, thousands of steps to view the city from the top. I had youtube'd what the view was like and it didn't interest me. The pedestal tickets felt like the best tickets for us because we would have a clear view of the statue, and we would also be able to take pictures without hundreds of people in the background. The boat ride is no more than about 10 minutes. It also stops at Ellis Island, but honestly we had no interest walking the island and completely skipped it.
