New York City Travel Guide
Me being, me, I love to make lists of everything I want to see and do on trips. Before I began making my itinerary, I asked everyone on the trip, what they'd like to do. No one cared to tell me, so I took charge and began planning. It took me three days to map out our weekend. My Mom, Eridanni and Ivonne all seemed to have loved my plans. My dad didn't care for this trip at all, and he sure didn't care about my itinerary either. Well...as soon as we arrived, my itinerary was already off to a bad start. Everyone laughed at my schedule and no one cared to follow it. I truly didn't care to follow it either, I just wanted to make sure we seen all the important landmarks and did everything there is to do. But of course my family loves to give me a hard time. Our friend Eric who moved to New York in January, became our tour guide. I had emailed him my itinerary so he knew everything we wanted to do and see. It was so easy getting through the city with him, he clearly has learned his way these last seven months. We went on, to do everything we were supposed to do on Sunday, on the Friday we arrived in NYC. Saturday went as planned, well...sort of. Sunday, we did everything we should have done on Friday. Finally on Monday we did everything we had missed the previous days. We did miss a few places here and there but I must say, it was such a great trip.

Waking up at 3:30am to head to the airport definitely took a toll on us. We were extremely sleep deprived and I think this heavily impacted our first day in NYC. We were so tired and truly not expecting to walk as much as we did. Everyone always mentions packing comfortable shoes. By comfortable, they mean work out shoes. You may think your sandals are comfortable but after taking more than 18,000 steps in them, they are not longer comfortable. Between the fast paced life, dirty subways, smoggy streets, and trash all along the sidewalks, NYC was not at all what we expected. We had no idea how to get anywhere, and we were constantly walking in the wrong direction. Subways are the most efficient form of travel, however if you don't know which one to take or how to maneuver through them, you will get lost. Because everyone is always on the go, no one will take the time to help you. I honestly thought it was hilarious trying to figure this all out. My parents are truly too fancy to be on subways, they were so out of place and uncomfortable it was hysterical. We spent the first portion of our trip, walking and taking ubers everywhere. This can get very, I mean very expensive. After the first day, and after getting rest, we were able to enjoy the city. Eridanni learned his way through the subways, we all had our little cards so we weren't stuck trying to buy 6 different cards, and we were starting to remember where everything was. We were all reenergized and ready to go. I truly did enjoy walking everywhere. There's always something to do in NY, regardless of the time of day. It was very tiring being on the go, but after the last day, I had gotten used to it and I wish everything in Tennessee was walking distance.
