Day Trip to Bowling Green

Chaney's Dairy Barn
I love that one of my best girl friends, takes the time out of her very busy schedule to come visit me. When she arrived, we decided to plan a mini road trip to Kentucky. It so happens that we have a sorority sister who lives in a small town called Bowling Green, which is about an hour and a half away. She recommended our first stop, Chaney's Dairy Barn. This cute little farm offers self guided tours. Instead of milking the cows by hand, they are now milked by machines. I honestly thought this was crazy. The huge machine scans the cows and their tags, then adjusts the tubes which will squeeze the milk out. Cows produce 7 gallons of milk a day, that is equivalent to 5 gallons of ice cream, 2 pounds of butter, or 60 pounds of yogurt. The farm had about 50 milk producing cows, living in cleaner conditions than I would have imagined. After touring the farm, we drove over to the barn and enjoyed some of their freshly made ice cream.

Lost River Cave
You can choose to kayak, hike or take a boat tour through the cave. We chose to take a boat tour, because we were not in the condition to get dirty. The cave is very chilly, covered in limestone and beautiful rock formations. While entering the cave, we had to duck our heads to be able to actually enter and enjoy the beauty of the cave. There are tiny fish swimming in the water and apparently frogs & bats too but we didn't see any. Which is a good thing because I probably would have freaked out. I def recommend anyone visiting Bowling Green to visit this beautiful cave.
